Bashy feat Omar - L.D.N TOWN [Audio]

Bashy celebrates everything great about London alongside UK soul veteran Omar - this taken from his forthcoming E.P "The Great Escape".

The track has that same feel as Jay-Z and Alicia's flag waving anthem 'Empire State of Mind', and it's great to hear Omar back in the game.

Eccentric screw face grime here from the up and coming grime MC from South LDN...

VIDEO: MYNATURE - IT'S CRAZY

The London rapper is definitely someone to watch out for this year, and in my views  is reminiscent of a Nas/50 Cent style vibe and brings this sick new video off his 'Myni Mondays' series, and is the second record taken from his forthcoming album "IT'S MY NATURE" dropping this summer

.

Video: Mr Miniature [DeeKay] - Warm Up Sessions [SB.TV]

Sick bars from the London artist on the come up right now..

Video: Big Narstie - Warm Up Sessions [SB.TV] #PAIN

There were at least 11 occasions watching this where I picked up my laptop to throw it in faux disgust. Had me all coughing and wheezing. Look at the hashtagged text on his shirt! Bruv, mate. Naaaaaah! The big man’s style is so unbelievably and entertainingly unique that it deserves its own grouping - #PAIN.

Show me another MC who can mix up the delivery and lyrics the way Big Narstie has in this video. No rush, I’ll wait... you know what, just click play! I can say what I like about the video but Narstie will explain what I’m getting at much better! Enjoy!

Video: Chief Keef - I Don't Like feat. Lil Reese

You could be easily forgiven this joint was straight out of Atlanta, with the trademark sound both in the production (courtesy of 18 year old Young Chop) and rapping - straight igna'nt bars with simple and repetitive flow patterns (which is what makes it GREAT!). The video itself is very representive of the track - whiling out in their front room, twisted and liquored up (at the very least!).

However Chicago newcomer Chief Keef could be the latest YouTube star to take over the rap game, since amassing way over one million views in just a month with this. Fellow Chi-Towner Kanye West has really taken to the track, and announced the official G.O.O.D Music remix, which is due to drop Friday 27th featuring himself, Pusha T, Jadakiss and Big Sean! Find out more about this and other labels interested in Cheif Keef at The Fader. Stay locked to Blatantly Blunt for more info on this!

Audio: Orange Hill & Vybz Kartel – Pon Time [1xtra Rip]

Orange Hill follow up their club hit Wine De Best featuring Busy Signal, Fatman Scoop, and Kano with 'Pon Time'. If you thought they couldn’t match their previous collaboration, think again as the team manage to link up with the one and only Vybz Kartel. Kartel is currently in custody on a murder charge but has released a number of new tracks from behind bars, this being the latest.

Orange Hill consists of producer and DJ Ras Kwame and Jnr. Tubby AKA Dialtone (nephew of legendary Dub producer King Tubby). The duo have burst onto the scene with their self-titled “Electro Bashy” style and have already made waves with singles Dan Man and previously mentioned 'Wine De Best'.

Audio: Liquid – Nah Let You Go – Love Bug Riddim

Liquid returns with his track Nah Let You Go on the Love Bug Riddim, arguably one of the catchier pieces on the riddim produced by Washroom Entertainment. Washroom Entertainment are the production team behind the 'Bubble Gum Riddim' and Demarco’s single 'Somewhere' amongst many others.

Sponsored Video: Virgin Media's talent school

*This is a sponsored post, for Virgin Media*

Richard Branson’s multi-faceted empire has taken a step into the world of light entertainment, more specifically talent spotting! One arm of the conglomerate is Virgin’s industry leading Virgin Media brand, which provides Internet, TV, and other forms of media Briton’s love to consume by the yottabyte!!

Here’s Mr Branson giving you a short intro of what the competition is about.

Virgin Media are sponsoring the UK’s favourite talent contest ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ which has been entertaining the nation since 2007, producing some truly unique stars. This year’s series sees Simon Cowell and co adding funny man David Walliams to their all-important judge line up – this should guarantee some unforgettable viewing!

To celebrate this, they are running a ‘talent school’ of their own. Using the wonders of user generated content on the interweb they are taking submissions from people like you - and in exchange are offering the chance to win tickets to the live semi-final or even final show on ITV!

To demonstrate the levels they’re hoping for, they have enlisted the skills of some talented individuals, such as Yo-Yo master Stefan Benjamin, Basketball don Tarryn Algar and even boxing legend Lennox Lewis, who gives an example of how mentally fast you can use a skipping rope!

However, they’ve not forgotten about good old hip hop, and have enlisted the skills of UK beat boxing pioneer Killa Kela who, like Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, dated actress, singer and model Patsy Kensit! Take a look below!
For more info on this, check out Virgin Media's YouTube channel here!

Video: Suave Debonair ft. Pete Cannon - Play Your Game

Dope new video from one of our top contributors, as he teams up with one of the UK's biggest hip hop producers for this light hearted horror story between him and his girlfriend! You won't get the chorus out of your head till the weekend!

Suave was recently seen doing the feature rap on the debut track "F**k Me" from BBC Sound of 2012 girlband STOOSHE (Warner Bros) with the original video racking up well over 100'000 hits on youtube!

Review: Z Dot – ‘Project Z’ EP

Review by Jez Cool exclusively for Blatantly Blunt -

Opinion is often polarized whenever West London producer Zdot is the topic of conversation; one could say his persistence in the face of what’s often fierce criticism is testament to the young man’s strength of character. His latest musical offering ‘Project Z’ is an interesting mish-mash of sounds, exploring various arenas and featuring a who’s who of the underground urban music scene, a formula particularly useful to Zdot in the last few years in helping him build a name and following for himself.

The EP kicks off with Zdot in collaboration with MC Manga and singer Ryan Keen on ‘Lonely Road’; a reflective, guitar-infused production upon which both sit tentatively. On first listen I misheard Keen’s introduction as being decidedly shaky; it’s actually that faint uncertainty in the singer’s voice which makes the chorus more endearing; he sounds genuinely cut up when he sings “my heart’s lost it’s hope”, and the track’s message is all the stronger for it.

Rapper Benny Banks and Jay Norton link up on ‘Roll’; the two talented artists sit comfortably on a typically jaunty hip-hop production with an equally typical “don’t try to get at us now” message. The track serves its purpose without producing the jaw-dropping element I love to hear in new music, which certainly isn’t to say that either artist did anything less than very well with their respective contributions.

'2012' feat. Roachee, JME & Fuda Guy:-

Probably the release’s highlight is ‘2012’; a dark, bass-laced grime production which would be intriguing enough without the verses supplied by Roachee, JME and a Fuda Guy who seems somewhat short of match fitness. Regardless, the trio provide skill and entertainment with their lyrics, and in terms of listenability (if such a term exists!) this was the track I found myself going back to play again.

Kal Levelle features alongside rapper Fem Fel on track four, confusingly entitled ‘Time Is Now’ despite seemingly being about a relationship’s demise. It was my first time hearing either artist and I felt they had come together at the wrong time, on the wrong track. There was little sense that any significant amount of emotion was expended by either; ultimately it sounds like they first met the same day that their vocals were recorded. Given what had come before, this was rather disappointing to listen to.

Similarly confusing was Lily McKenzie’s vocal on what I presume was an effort to produce a club smash instrumental to go with it. I think the best explanation for the track, entitled ‘Shows Me Love’, is I’m listening to a promo version of the EP; any other reason for the instrumental being so undermined by the vocal’s strength would be a massive oversight on Z Dot’s part. I imagine the beat would be better suited for use elsewhere even when fully mastered, because the current arrangement does both singer and producer a disservice.

Singer Lauren Mason comes together with MCs Harry Shotta and Propane on an uplifting track to finish the EP, entitled ‘Journey’. Shotta’s contribution is particularly impressive, and Mason’s chorus is very easy on the ear indeed, all of which combine to provide a pleasant end to the release.

'Journey' feat. Harry Shotta, Lauren Mason & Propane:-

Say what you like about the young man. Having listened through this EP, I can see why people do and will continue to; the problem is the phrase “you don’t know what to expect from the guy” can be as negative as it can be positive. His willingness to put out such diversity of sound in a release is as commendable (he’s not a one-trick pony, fingers in different pies etc) as it is regrettable (who wants to be a jack of all trades and a master of none etc). At its best, there’s no doubt that Z Dot’s music holds enough merit to warrant a high rating; with too much of his work however, he leaves too much scope for debate over its quality.

Video: REWD ADAMS & THE LAST SKEPTIK - EVERYTHING'S OK

Brilliant stop motion video for a track which has the feel good quality to be a radio hit, while still retaining that authentic hip hop feel. The song brings a vibe that suggest it's about a woman, but could also be a metaphor for Rewd’s love of writing. You decide!

Look out for his forthcoming album ‘How Not To Make A Living’.

Video: Logic - Warm Up Sessions [SB.TV]

Perfectly executed bars from the South London veteran lyricst, and on this video provides as much substance and meaning as ever, providing a faultless performance also! Someone for most other emcees to learn a few pieces of advise from. However, I felt the comment about grime MCs providing a bad message was a bit one sided, as there are a higher proportion of 'road rap' artists providing the same level as pointless gun talk.

Download: Mikill Pane – You Guest It EP

Audio: Sha Stimuli - Baby's First Word

"Baby's First Word" is a record from Brooklyn rapper Sha Stimuli, which addresses 'the N-Word' like it has never been tackled before - discussing how and why it was his baby's first word!! Whether or not it really WAS his baby's first word, it's a great track concept and discusses how the word has made its way into common language and pop culture, well executed over this heavy metal hip hop production. Dope!

This follows on from his previous track 'Praying for Aliens', using the concept of an alien invasion, to discuss the issue of race.

Audio: Mikill Pane feat P Money, Fem-Fel & Katie Price - Hey Baby (radio rip)

Witty London lyricist Mikill Pane is about to drop his star studded EP (which drops April 22) and this is the first taster, linking with P Money, Fem Fel & Katie Price (aka Jordan)! Yeah you read that right, don't worry tho the busty ex-model doesn't lend her singing talent but instead some adlibs!

Either way the tune is dope, with a crazy flow pattern from Pane, and a rasping heavy guitar beat with P Money and Fem Fel going in also! The track reminds me a bit of the classic 'Superman' by Eminem.

Video: Macca (Stay Fresh) - Goin In Hard

The grime MC who's a member of Birmingham collective Stay Fresh kills the Preditah production, and is set for big things. ‘In My Zone/ Going In Hard’ is the first double single from Macca’s debut album ‘25’, and is a direct reflection of the label’s progression as of late.

Interview: 184 (hip hop producer)

So what do you know about producer 184 and his body of work in this thing we call music? “Not a great deal” might be your answer, but I guarantee anyone with their ear open to that good stuff will have heard that dude can construct the illest beat. Suave Debonaire caught up with the man at his Brighton manor to talk about the release of his new Mix Tape ‘Where's my parade’, celebrity sex tapes and mini ramps...

Q: So 184, what can we expect from ‘Where's my parade’?
A: It is a compilation of tracks I produced over the years, which people may not have realised, were mine. A 'greatest hits' if you will. Going back about 8 years, the earliest track is my brother's tune "Uncontained Rage" which came out in 2004 I think. The featured artist line up is crazy and I'm very fortunate to have worked with everyone on there.

Q: What do you make of the UK scene at present?
I think it is in a good state. Good tunes are being made, good shows are happening and people are enjoying themselves without getting too soppy about it.

Q: Do you think we will ever see an X-Factor style show for hip hop producers?
A: If so, I'm the Susan Boyle (if she was she in that?). Surprisingly competent. Alternatively, I want Cowell's job and salary.

Q: Did you see the Tulisa from N’Dubz' sex tape?
A: Nah I'm old school. I saw the Paris Hilton sex tape. Suave Debonaire's so old school he saw the Pamela Lee sex tape.

Q: There are names that are making big moves in music land featured on the mix tape, is there anyone else on the come up that you want to work with?
A: I'm doing some work with a vocalist called Rag N Bone man from Rum Com. He's gonna be king next year.

Q: I know you used to have that Mini ramp back in the day. What happened to that, did it turn fire wood, and if so have you still got blunts?

I loved that ramp. I moved out of my mums house when I became grown up, and couldn't take it with me, then after a while she moved aswell. I was told he went to live on a farm in Wales, where there's lots of other ramps to play with and no roller bladers. I lost the blunts. I went down Hove Lagoon park last summer and nearly bodied myself in front of a load of 14 year olds on scooters.

Q: Hailing from Brighton, who is your favourite B-Town celebrity? Mines that skateboarding dog that was about for a bit.
A: I saw that skateboarding dog a while ago round the corner from Wagamama's. Fuck Jordan and Chris Eubank, skateboarding dog owns this town! He is the sea, he is the sun, he is the slags, he IS Brighton. I might add Pete from Big Brother passed through my house once.

Q: Cheers for ‘The Info’ ha-ha get it? Anything you want to add?
A: I get it. I get puns. I would like to thank everyone featured on the record, Paul Hazell for the artwork, 'The Purist' for the mastering and your good self for questioning me about the things that matter.
