Bashy - Life

This has got to be one of Bashy's most complete tunes yet. Here he speaks of contemporary British life. Make sure you listen to the lyrics. They're not as alienating as 'black boys' (if you're not black) but are on the same positive vibe.

Jammer & Tinie Tempah sign on...

Congrats are due to grime heavyweights Jammer and Tinie Tempah who've both signed to labels of one type or another today... Jammer, who had until now been widely regarded as a member of the Dirtee Stank team has signed with independent heavyweights Big Dada, a label that previously had Roots Manuva and Wiley under their roster.

Tinie tempah also announced on Ace & Vis' last weekday slot on 1xtra that he'd signed to a major, just not which one. Respect is due to both these guys that have had consistent output over the last year or 2.

This cover cracked me up..

This image (click here to see) is ridiculously Ice-T-ish that it works in a retro way in 2009 (aka throwback/nostalgic type shit), I just hope he realises this. The name of the mixtape is pretty topical/witty given the whole controversy over the (over)use of what seems like every MC's favorite tool of 2008/9 with some using it a bit more than is healthy (I'm thinking Lil Wayne, Ron Browz, Wiley, and Kanye (before he went 'normal' again)), and then combining that with the record title prefix - songs in the key of ____.

I wasn't actually going to listen to the mixtape from this Lil Flip lookalike (and kinda soundalike) but then I remembered that expression about not judging a book etc. It's pretty/very generic uninspiring but not terrible.. Jus wat I expected.. that ignorant shit you I love.. listen to it here (if u can): https://www.datpiff.com/Ric_Atari_Songs_In_The_Key_Of_Autotune.m52234.html

Dead Prez are one of those rap groups that comes along only occasionally. Continuing on the path of politically minded artists like Public Enemy and KRS-One the Florida-formed-New York based outfit has been crafting revolutionary but gangsta hip-hop since the late 1990s. Striving to produce records that express concepts beyond the limited confines of the rap aesthetic and are instead relevant to the struggles faced by contemporary black America, Dead Prez tackle such diverse topics as education, the drugs problem and the economic traps faced by a community that in many ways remains oppressed. Like those esteemed predecessors, Dead Prez are world-class musicians with a social conscience.

With two full albums under their belt, plus two underground mix-tapes and two solo albums of street level political hip-hop that is heavily designed challenge the status quo Dead Prez have diversified into writing and publishing, filmmaking and been the subject of an acclaimed documentary. On the back of ‘Pulse of the People’ the third instalment of their mix tape series ‘Turn off the Radio’, Dead Prez will be descending onto London’s Koko with all their talent, fire and street level revolutionary zeal.

Support will come from the UK’s finest Klashnekoff. He has been missing in action for a while now but will surely make a solid return as he intends to release his new album ‘Back to Da Sagas’ in the coming months.

Dizzee previews Tounge n cheek

That's his new album by the way.
On Friday 18th September, Nike Sportswear and Dizzee Rascal will release the very special, and strictly limited, Nike Air Max 90 'Tongue N' Cheek' sneaker. The shoe has been created in a special partnership between Dizzee, Nike Design and long-time Dizzee collaborator and creative director, Ben Drury and will go on sale exclusively at Nike's 1948 store in London's Shoreditch, ahead of the release of Dizzee's fourth LP, Tongue N' Cheek (Monday 21st September)

You can attend a graphic design college if you want to learn how to design sneakers.

This promo video has been created to celebrate these two releases. Art directed by Drury, shot by hype photographers Tim & Barry (dontwatchthat.tv) the same creative team behind the album artwork, also includes the skills of up and coming director/animator James Copeman. Set to 'Chillin Wiv Da Man Dem' - the sound of Dizzee at his most laid-back- the film fuses elements of the album artwork with additional footage, and is a light hearted look into Rascal's world.

Is there no justice in this world?!

OK fair play to N-Dubz they've done their thing. On a major label and got a load of impressionable teens thinking they're from Wood Green. They got a good producer, good singer and an eccentric lead vocalist. It's just a piss take they have this studio/country villa. There you go i said it.

Jay-Z & Alicia Keys (& Lil Mama) at the VMAs

WTF? Censors for Jay-z's epic performance here @ the VMAs on Sunday decide to blank out bare words like 'Crip' but didn't choose to blank out his praising of the E pill's cleaner alternative sayin "MDMA got you feelin like a champion". Something seem not right here? Oh and wat's the deal with 2 unplanned stage invasions?! Lil mama's hungry!

Speaking of Jay, compare this clip to him at the VMA's from 8 years ago here.
