Audio: Jendor - RIP Dot Rotten

Jendor buries Dot Rotten over what sounds like the Undertaker's [or possibly Kane's, not watched Wrestling in about 10 years] opening theme tune. Could this be the start of another fissure in the rock that is the grime scene??

Video: Trozion drops Fire in the phone booth

Don't get it twisted, this is a name you need to look for in 2011. Expect loads more from Trozion but on this one he goes in to a next level! Stay locked to DJ Gone for more fire in the phone booth!

Download: Stromae ft Kanye West & Gilbere Forte’ – Alors On Danse Remix

Kanye West promised a new track every friday so I guess this is the 1st G.O.O.D Friday release. Alors On Danse is a really popular dance track doing the rounds across Europe. The first time i heard it was randomly; it charted really high up on Spotify's singles chart; I gave it a listen (without the US MCs) and played it another 3 or 4 times that day...!
Yeezy jumped on the remix with Gilbere Forte, an artist I've previously promoted on this site, look out for him!

Video: Dr Syntax - Hire Me

After a long absence from the scene, one of the UKs most highly regarded lyricists Dr Syntax returns with a lighthearted track about a subject most of us have experience in. No, not sex but the inability to get a job! By far and away the best MC that reps Brighton, Sinners has production provided by long-term co-worker The Evil Sun (of Bonobos live band). I LIKE THIS! This is released on 27th Sept on Dented Records...

Nicki Minaj's 20 year plan

OK so this chick is making a lot of noise in the music scene of late. Most recently music producer/drug-money launderer Irv Gotti (of Murder inc) compared her level of talent with Lauryn Hill in a Vibe magazine article: "In my opinion she is as talented as my other girl Lauryn Hill. They have completely different styles. But as far as the talent is concerned they both can do it all." Elsewhere CNN (yea, the NEWS broadcaster) wrote an essay like article on her which is pretty interesting also... Anyway check the 20 year plan of the only rapper to rhyme the word 'asbestos', as published at Vibe.com

Audio: Pimp C ft. Drake & Bun B – “What Up”

Big track and good to hear the late great Pimp C. The late emcee is resurrected on his upcoming third solo album The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones, due October 5, with the first track produced by Drake's creative partner 'Boi 1Da' giving a taste of the Southern goodness to expect on the joint.

Video: Capone-N-Noreaga ft. Faith Evans - Hood Pride

This video's pretty damn funny, set in jail. I swear some of the black stripes are sprayed/painted on the shirts?! Either way's its the most entertaining music vid i've seen from the US in a while. Taken from CNN's new album, the War Report 2.

Wordplay - Can You See Me (Ft. Nutty P) (Hood Vid)

New video from Wordplay and Nutty P. Definitely feeling this one. Look out for Wordplay's album 'An Emotional Victory' Out Now On iTunes.

Audio: Plies - Boosie

This is a new one from Plies dedicated to Lil Boosie who got locked up recently and was indicted on federal first degree murder charges! He's another talented rapper that we'll probably never hear again.

Audio: Jargon V.A Ft Killa P - Crime Scene

The first release from Cheese on Bread's fresh new record label is a two-track single by UK grime production duo Jargon V.A. They've done this banger with occasional Roll Deep artist Killa P; the MC who shifts between patois-cockney grime and just straight grime, depending on his mood! Definitely a good track tho, I'm feeling the content and bassline focussed production. Look out for more from Jargon V.A with a forthcoming Tinie Tempah collaboration and a full-length album, entitled 'It's All On Top'.

Here's the video:

Video: M.I.K - Little Man [Graphical Music Video]

This is nuts. MIK's done it again over this one from his new mixtape Grime to Five. Make sure you cop that and his previous mixtape Workaholic! Big up to whoever made the video as well... might have to giv u a shout 1 day!

Fresh download track for 2010 from Wiley, good to hear he's doing grime in the best way he knows how. Hopefully we'll see more of this kind of music than the questionable material he's put out recently.Download here.

"The Past, The Present and The Future" is a prelude to Stylah's long awaited debut album ‘Treading Water’ featuring fellow lyricists Grafh, Sway, Akala, Immortal Technique and Joell Ortiz amongst others which is out in September.

Event review: Rude Kid Launch Party @ Old Blue Last

I headed down to this event on Saturday night with rapper Byron and producer J Beatz, and was a sick night. Supporting top producer Rude Kid's new EP Hypnotic on the night was Spooky DJ, Jammer, Shorty, P Money, Blacks, Scrufizzer, Jammin, Merky Ace, Marger, Rival, Big Shizz, Delusion, plus loads more...
There was a bit of beef on stage; how authentic it was I'm not sure. Fortunately it didn't lead to anything and the night finished at 1.30am and a good few of the people hung around for another hour or so to network, spit bars or all of the above!

Check that and the rest of the footage below:

Also check some of the photos of the night courtesy of 'Kids of the Underground':

Video: Iron Braydz - Hang & L's Formation/Death Machine

Some good old fashioned apocalyptic UK Hip hop here from Iron Braydz, someone I'm not overly familiar with but will definitely check for! The sound definitely is reminiscent of Triple Darkness so check this if that's your thing!

Video: GHETTS - GRIME DAILY

Just in case you were unsure of the hottest music in the world right now, here's Ghetts to remind you what it is. Great tune all round here both the bars and production. This video's doing a lot also!!

Audio: Kanye West feat. Jay-Z & Swizz Beats - Power (Remix)

THIS is how to make a remix. Not only is there a switched up chorus and beat, AND a Jay-Z verse thrown in, but there a whole other song after the original! What sounds like Swizz Beat [does that work?] it samples Snap - I've got the power and Kanye drops some crazy verses sounding confident as ever!

20 August 2010

Video: JME - Cinema

This is another example of JME thinking outside the box and breaking the norms of a grime video. There's so many tiny video-editing details in here I'll let you notice them yourself! The brilliantly dark production is courtesy of Mr V. One thing I don't get tho; if JME's so smart, why's he eating McDonalds? We all know that food is trash in a bag!

Audio: Tuggawar - Have To Make It

UK Dancehall MC (or should I say DJ!) Tuggawar drops fire over Cash Money's track 'I made it'. Definitely feeling this one, he makes the track his own...

Video: No Hats No Trainers - Cypher 1

Audio: Ruste Juxx ft Sledge "U Know What Crime It Is"

Ruste Juxx is back with a new mix CD, Adamantine, a project entirely produced by the UK's very own Endemic. "I first linked up with Endemic 3 years ago" says Ruste Juxx. "I was on 3 songs, one with Sean Price... we were going to put out an EP but we wound up knocking out a album. I never met son but my hardcore rhyme style and his murderous production... IT'S ADAMANTINE!"

S.K.I.T.Z. Beatz joins Eastenders:E20 series 2 as Music Director/Composer

22 year-old pioneering grime producer Aiden Hogarth aka S.K.I.T.Z.
Beatz is joining the E:20 team as Music Director/Composer.

Having produced tracks for the cream of UK talent like Tinchy Stryder, Wiley, Skepta, Tempa T and JME, Aiden has now branched out into creating and selecting music for screen, starting with work on series 2 of Eastenders:E20. Having composed over 50% of the show's music himself, Aiden also sourced tracks from some of the hottest UK artists for use in crucial scenes. The results are a stunning and well thought-out musical backdrop to one of BBC's most anticipated shows of the year.

Aiden has also worked with some of the UK's biggest names and has releases in the pipeline with Wiley, Tempa T, Brazen (Roll Deep) and Newham Generals, alongside the launch of his own imprint Straight
Jackit Entertainment and his debut album "Concrete Orchestra" forthcoming in 2011. One of the new faces on the show Heshima Thompson (Asher), who was once a backing singer for Amy Winehouse, is now on the verge of signing a major recording contract. Aiden hopes that his experience and guidance will help Heshima to flourish on stereos in addition to on screen..

The Game questions Rick Ross' ramblings

Compton rap star The Game took offense to Miami rapper Rick Ross' song "B.M.F. (Blowin Money Fast)" in the latest issue of Complex Magazine.

In the interview, Game seems to take offense to Rick Ross' glamorization of Black Mafia Family gang leader Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and Gangster Disciples' founder, Larry Hoover. While Game rarely hides his own affiliation with The Bloods street gang, he stated that he didn't want to lead his fans in the wrong direction. "All these people thinking they're gangsta. And after the Rick Ross song B.M.F. everybody thinking they're Big Meech again, Larry Hoover. Nobody really should wanna be that or aspire to be that 'cause you're gonna end up in a coffin," Game told Complex. "And trust me man, most of these rappers outside of me, 50 Cent and maybe Waka Flocka and a few others, have never felt bullets man, ain't never had a brush with actually having your life erased. So a lot of these rappers out here playing. That's just not the message I'm trying to send across no more."

Source: RapGodFathers.com

Got to admit that The Game is one of the least likely people I'd expect to have said this but I'm glad he did cos a lot of people like Ross are promoting this that and the other without much foundation. Oh and
check out Game's new mixtape 'Brake Lights'. It's a welcome return to the scene and he seems to be making good hip hop again!

CHASE & STATUS MEETS JEREMY KYLE

Trust me this is worth the watch especially if you've ever seen Jeremy Kyle!! As for the track (their latest single), it follows C&S' unique way of wildly exaggarating most beats they knock out (without it being overkill) but still producing an exceptional overall track. This is no difference, as they team up with 'Mali' for this short film (kinda). Very much looking forward to their next album!

Download: Tinchy Stryder - Famous

Tinchy goes in hard over this metal based track and proves he's probably the best cross over artist in the grime scene. He flows so comfortably over the track and lyrically proves he's not one to doubt! This one's to promote his upcoming LP 'Third Strike'.

Video: BASHY - FANTASY

Bashy's fallen out of favour with me recently but this track is most certainly him back to his best I reckon. Probably as he's not trying too hard and over pronouncing the bars and generally being too emosh! Strong video here and nice use of the classic 90s dance tune 'let me be your fantasy' by Baby D. I remember it well!!

Video: Flush Raw - Pmoney

O Geezus! P smacks it, listen out for number related bars... The beat is next level aswell if anyone knows wat it is please let me know!!

Video: Lil Jon - Machuka

I posted the unofficial video of this back in June, but thankfully Lil Jon brings us the OFFICIAL video for “Machuka” featuring baile funk legend Mr. Catra and recent Brazilian Playboy cover girl/dancer Mulher Filé. Filmed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this song is from Lil Jon’s most recent album Crunck Rock. It's one of my favourite dance tracks of the year and the video's looking VERY fresh!!

Download: Loco - The Hello EP

Exclusively released first here at BlatantlyBlunt.com, "The Hello E.P" contains 5 free pant-sh*tting grime instrumentals for you to break your neck and wake the neighbours with.. yet another quality release from the LOFT-B make sure you get this by clicking the cover to download!

After much behind-the-grime-scene work alongside the likes of UK heavyweights Ghetts, Frisco, Ms Dynamite, Mz Bratt and many more, multi-talented producer Loco introduces his unique production style to the scene in the loudest, rudest, grimiest possible fashion...albeit with a few added sprinkles of humour (check out the artwork and the movie samples!)

The E.P. opens with the relentless charge of the title track 'Hello' and the seemingly-neverending industrial roll of 'Growler', then grinds it's way through to the bass-heavy, dustep-infused 'Bigshot' and one that will surely have MC's clamouring to vocal its energetic production - 'Check This Out'. By the time the parting shot - dreamy closing track 'Makes You Wonder' comes around, you may feel you do not want to part ways just yet. Indeed, this is an introduction that will be difficult to forget.

Coventry bloke becomes 1st person followed by Kanye on Twitter

Big up the BBC for posting their 1st cool story based on hip hop:

Rap star Kanye West follows one Coventry man on Twitter

Kanye West described Stephen Holmes as the "chosen one"
US rapper Kanye West has made a Coventry man an online star by following him on Twitter.
West, 33, made Stephen Holmes the first - and so far only - person he is following on the social networking site after joining last week.

Mr Holmes tweeted West to thank the rapper for following him. West replied: "You are the chosen one dun dun dun."

Since the hip hop star's interest, Mr Holmes's followers on the site have increased from 60 to about 1,500 (its now 2,831!!) . The Coventry man confessed: "I feel pressure with my tweets now."

However, West advised him: "Tweet strong young man tweet strong!!!"

Since becoming an online sensation, Mr Holmes's tweets have included: "If abuse is love then I've never felt more loved" and "feeling hungover and I wasn't even drunk last night".

In March, US chat show host Conan O'Brien decided to follow just one person on Twitter, 19-year-old student Sarah Killen. In an interview with the New York magazine, she described how she was deluged with thousands of messages in the hours after O'Brien chose to follow her.

West, who has a new album coming out, has amassed more than 380,000 Twitter followers in less than a week.

You can take music classes from an online college to learn how to create your own album!

Audio: `Chima Anya ft Sincere "Hey"

Big new single here from Chima Anya feat. North London hip hop legend Sincere. Taken from the Chima's debut album "New Day". Without trying to compare it too much tho i hear inspiration in this track from from the likes of Mos Def or Blackalicious which ain't a bad thing in the slightest...

Also check my interview & Freestyle clip with Chima a couple months back.. and check for the in-di-r to another North London rapper(if you know what that means you'll see it in there)!
