Check these 2 new vids from a crew representing Chalkhill, NW LDN called Top Records or 'Random Mandem' headed and produced by B Dodgy. A solid teamwith regular input from Flirta D.
This first vid is straight up hip hop and has that mid 90s Lord of the underground 'Cheif Rocka' style production and sound which is not easy to resurrect, but strong here with ex armed forces member Olos taking lead vocals.
Next vid is featuring Flirta D, with production from Papers. More on a road rap vibe, goes in hard (even if it does sample Bryan Adams - Everything I Do, the theme tune from Robin Hood)!
*Bonus* Random Mandem were guests on my show on urbanfmtv a little while back, check the footage, it was nuts!:

New material from Top Records
N Dubz minus fazer meet LA Reid at IslandDef Jam
That's Def Jam's PARENT company. Fazer reckons he has work to do tho so by the looks of it the groups PRODUCER isn't going. Does something smell fishy here? What are the chances Fazer may not be part of the future of n dubz... he doesn't seem fazed (no pun intended, honestly). It's not like he's got to worry about someone like Frazer T Smith stealing his business . He's a fairly impressive producer & is also someone I could predict Def Jam bringing with who's sound would travel well to the States
Who said Lowkey can't do grime?
Cos they had the same thought as me. I can understand how overly politicised UK Hiphop doesn't pay too many bills but if you're gonna cross over to grime listen to the competition you got 1st. Check out his video with DJ Gone below this one tho, He does his thing...

2 new tracks from Grime's elite
Sidetracked - Jme ft Wiley.
I'm still not 100% convinced on this, despite it being from 2 of my favourite grime artists. The concept of the tune's good but I just don't think the vocoder/auto-tune bring out the best in this track. Look out for Wiley's 'replacement' in the video. When he's got the reputation of never turning up for ANYTHING, contingency plans start to take priority when Will's involved! This is out for download on Feb 21.
Skepta Ft P Money & Blacks - Spit Big Bars
Straight up hard grime. Bars, beats, aggyness. Can't go wrong! Watch out for Skepta's latest mixtape which is a compilation of his previously unreleased material 'Been There Done That'.
Niyi's got Jungle Fever
Not good if you've got a hangover but better heard in the club whilst you get it crunk! His music is funky and hypnotic, with some heavy basslines to make most speakers sweat. If you like Faithless then you'll like Niyi, but don't try and fit this into a genre!
Check a couple of tracks off the EP right here, in the words of my homie Higher Elements, when I played it to him, "10/10 production"!! Tell me if you agree...

Frisco does SBTV's F64
This isn't the type of blog that you'll see every SBTV video posted up (i'll leave that to other sites), but this one from Frisco of Boy Better Know kills it! He go's in over 'Wooo' by S-X and confirms why he's one of my favourite grime MCs. Look out for Trilla's vocal of the beat, absolutely disgusting. If you have a mp3 of it pls send it my way!
M.I.K - Old Skool [free download]
MIK drops his latest free mixtape, 'Old Skool' which is packed full of classic material as well as a few radio rips. Make sure you give this a listen if you like relentless grime and if you like it, support and buy the Workaholic mixtape as CD or download!

Check this vid of him performing the track here, but I'd listen to the mp3 1st as this is a bit sloppy!

Am i missing something here?
Dap-C is a name you may or may not be familiar with, but like Sade and Dido is also a UK artist who seems to have more support in the US than their own shores. The Geordie (thats slang for someone from Newcastle fyi) MC collaborated with major artists like Lil Wayne, The Game and Raekwon and is on the new '2pac album' (I reluctantly put Pac's name there as it's another post-humous official compilation being sold). This new track from him is with G-unit artist 40 Glocc (who I actually RATE) and 2 others. My
UK -US collabs are all good but I feel with this one, Dap-C's networking skills seem to outshine his ability. Not that he's shit but he's just not that good and seems to be struggling with his flow... Take a listen and make your own decision.

BlatantlyBlunt meets Trozion
I interviewed promising UK Grime star Trozion at the Urban Development music publishing event at the Stratford Circus last week where he spoke about his role in the grime scene and his debut upcoming mixtape; Ahead wid da barz. He's already worked with established names like Lewi White and Badness so watch out for him!
I also filmed some more from the night, so see below for my highlights from the open mic contest aswell as the freestyle cypher which had some comedy moments!! Big up to everyone involved!

C Gritz Soundboard
Check this from Joseph Westwood, the guy that brought you the Tempa T Soundboard. This time it's the turn of C Gritz aka Camalot, the man to look out for in 2010!

Video:Baker Trouble – Screamin’
I've not heard of this guy, but the tracks very creative and powerful. It reminds of DMX meets Reh Dogg's 'Why Must I Cry' (which I actually rate for its pure creativity and originality!). It's also good as a video as it shows you don't need a big budget to make a hot video.
props to londontomk.

Tinchy Stryder - money talks
New joint from Stryder, this one called 'money talks'. I feel this joint, more on a hip hop vibe, look out for the prodigy mobb deep/firestarter line! Good to see Tinchy's still making underground sounding tunes despite his vast commercial success.
13 January 2010
Little Nasty - UFO Mode
Don't get it twisted, this IS an old track but the video's new. This one from Griminal's brother Little Nasty. I don't blame him for making a delayed video for this, it's a big track with some ill production from Rude Kid.
Also check this new vid from little nasty, this time he's on track with Skepta and Badness. This one's called Nightmare with the video produced by Tim & Barry.

Mystro drops his 2009 UK rap video!
I can honestly say this is sick. As far as I know Skillz never did a video for his rap ups so this holds originality in it's own way. Big up to Mystro, a veteran of the UK hip hop game... Props goes to Black Einstein also who produced the vid...

BlatantlyBlunt meets Skilzie
SE London resident Skilzie is a grime MC to keep an ear out for and has recently released his latest free giveaway, prepare to launch vol 2...we caught up with him to get his thoughts on the scene, beef and whats to come for 2010..
1. How did u get into grime and how did u get your name?
BOY I GOT INTO GRIME FROM SCHOOL DAYS, USED TO LISTEN TO DIZZEE N ROLL DEEP A LOT AND ALL THE ESKIMO BEATS THEN JUST STARTED SPITTING AND JUST STUCK AT IT! MY NAME CAME ABOUT JUST ON A RANDOM I WAS GOING TO ORIGINALLY USE SKILZ BUT I DIDN’T LIKE IT SO I USED THE LAST 2 LETTERS OF MY REAL NAME AND PUT THEM ON THE END SO I HAD SKILZIE AND IT WORKED AND STUCK!!
2. Tell me about your upcoming release and what it brings to the scene that’s lacking at the moment
MY UPCOMING RELEASE IS ‘PREPARE 2 LAUNCH VOL. 2’. WHAT I THINK ITS GOING TO BRING TO THE SCENE IS MORE HARD EDGE GRIME. I HEAR A LOT OF ARTIST CROSSING OVER BUT I WANA BE THE GUY WHO MADE GRIME SELL. THAT’S WHAT I THINK THE SCENE IS LACKING ARTIST DONT LIKE TO TRY AND CHART WITH GRIME BUT I FEEL GRIME IS THE ONLY GENRE IN TOUCH WITH THE YOUTH OF TODAY!! SO I BELIEVE IT DESERVES MORE RECOGNITION THAN THE MAJORS OFFER IT!
3. Is the beef in the scene holding it back or does it breed competition
I BELIEVE BEEF IN THE SCENE IS GOOD HEALTHY COMPETITION BUT I THINK IT’S SILLY WHEN IT HAS TO TURN BAD BUT UNFORTUNETLY IT DOES CAUSE SOME ARTIST JUST CANT BE PROFESSIONAL BUT YOU KNOW THATS GRIME.. BUT YEA MAN BEEF IS GOOD!
4. Who in the scene do you want to colab with and why?
IF I HAD TO PICK ANYONE I WOULD DEFO SAY SCORCHER!! I THINK HE’S A BIG MC I KNOW HES TRYING TO CROSS OVER AT THE MINUTE AND HIS RELEASES MAY NOT BE STRONG TO A STRICT GRIME FAN BUT I WOULD GET HIM ON SOMETHING THAT WAS GRIME AND I KNOW HE WOULD DELIVER, NO DOUBT!!
5. Which non grime artists would you like to collab with?
IF I EVER GET THE CHANCE TO, THEN I WOULD SAY TAIO CRUZ!
6. Who in the scene will make the biggest impact in 2010 that hasn't already broken thru
OBVIOUSLY ME LOL... NAH JOKES DESPITE WHAT HAPPENED I’D SAY MAXSTA! DEFO DOLLAR DA DUSTMAN TO COME THROUGH THIS YEAR AND P MONEY!
7. If you got asked by a major to make a cross over single (i.e. electro/r&b/hip hop) which would you choose to combine with your current sound?
I WOULD HAVE TO SAY HIP HOP. IT’S EASY TO CROSSOVER AND SELL ON WIDER SCALE!!
SHOUT OUT TO BLUNT
PREPARE 2 LAUNCH VOL. 2 OUT SOON!

Genesis Elijahs turned Grime!
Genesis Elijah, a long time member of the UK hip hop scene who got himself unnecesarily involved in the Chester P vs Wordsmith beef by repeatingly telling listeners he's not involved (despite no one asking) has returned to the scene with this new joint called 'power'. This is definitly on a grime vibe which is all good but people should know he's not a newbie to the rap scene.. check his old album, Deh Pon Road, pretty live.

Couple new UK tracks
first one is from Tinchy Stryder, Rapid and Maverik, Tinchy's first signing to his Star in the hood label. This vid's produced by the beast that is SBTV who recently launched his site, SBTV.co.uk...
This one is from Sam Khan, an MC that, like Professor Green helped raise his name thru the Jumpoff and is now running his own label, B Somebody. I'm gonna be honest and admit I'm not a fan of all his material but this one is a strong track that gives a confident middle finger up to all his doubters...
