Video: Movez – Say what’s real [including review]
Suave Debonaire continues his series of exclusive reviews for us by sharing his thoughts on this new video from Movez, out of the West Midlands collective Stay Fresh...
Ok so what is “real” in Midlands rapper Moves world? Well we catch him on his reflective side spittin on his past and analysing his upbringing and opportunities that may have been lacking as a youth being brought up on the bread line.
Let’s face it the concept of this track is as old as time and the danger lies with it not coming across in a way that engages the listener. I’m pleased to say that Movez manages to do this well through tight flows and accomplished production. After listening to the track a few times over it’s clear that Movez brings clever lyricism to what could otherwise be just another emcee taking on that ‘Life aint easy’ concept.
“It’s like you need Bills just to get to the Gate, and when you close your eyes you get to escape reality”
Although the hook is a little played out for my liking it doesn’t take away from this solid track and talented ‘Stay Fresh’ emcee doing his thing. It seems in 2012 Movez is making em.
Cop the single on itunes here and Look out for his forthcoming EP ‘The Leak’ Due out from ‘Stay Fresh’ on March 11th.
