Download: Jay Weathers - Chill Out Zone Too

Jay Weathers, who produced Wiley's self-leaked album from July 'The Chill Out Zone', explains in the video below how it all happened, and why he's released this - which features the same beats but vocalled by MCs such as Wiley, English Frank and Margs. The beats and vocals are strong, definitely worth the listen. Look out for the track 'Road to Riches'!!

Video: SB.TV F64 - Chipmunk [sends for his own label!]

With all due respect to the 'experts' out there that claim he's rubbish, these bars kind of prove them wrong. I'm no Chipmunk fanboy but have been listening to him since about 2006 and he's always had lyrical content - in this video he uses it to claim he no longer needs his label!

Video: MC Tigz - Gangster Remix (Produced By ZDot)

The Z Dot beat gets duppied once more by the up-and-coming SE London grime MC.. watch out for this guy he's moving up.

Video: Terrorsum - True Pain

One of the more overlooked lyricists in the scene, who I was first put onto thru a Twitter co-signing by Wiley... He's dropped this new video with the homies Nik Squared for this track which is on a bit of a profound tip. Not one you'll expect to hear at Carnival today, but definitely a zoners!

News: Yelawolf Sets Release Date For Shady Debut

Alabama rapper Yelawolf has announced the release date for his debut album for Eminem's record label, Shady records. Yelawolf's album Radioactive, will hit stores on October 25th, via a deal with his label Ghet-O-Vision/Shady Records/DGC/Interscope.

According to Yelawolf, the album was inspired by his hardscrabble upbringing in Gadsden, Alabama.

"Radioactive is the fallout of my life's inspirations, a testament to my ability to survive it all and to tell the story," Yelawolf said. "Sometimes I want to party, sometimes I want to fight and sometimes I want to cry. I'm human and this album is as honest as it gets."

The album features production by Justice league, The Audibles, Diplo and SupaHotBeats.

"We are very eager for the world to hear Radioactive and proud to be presenting the album on Shady Records," Eminem said in a statement today (August 18th). "Yelawolf is a true original and he has crafted an incredible record."

Video: SINCERE - AIN'T NOBODY LIKE YOU

The North London representer drops a video for his new one, jumping on this sick dubstep beat.
‘Ain’t Nobody Like You’ is the first single taken from Sincere’s upcoming ‘Now Or Never’ EP which features Wretch 32 and singer Daley. The video for ‘Ain’t Nobody Like You’ was released at midnight last night via Grime Daily and is currently raking in views after a premiere from MistaJam (Radio 1/1xtra)

Audio: Lil Wayne Ft. Jadakiss & Drake – It’s Good

The legend that is Jadakiss features alongside Weezy and Drizzy on this leak from Wayne's hotly tipped album The Carter IV. Weezy pops shots at Jay-Z and Beyoncé, in response to Jay's send towards Weezy on his track off Watch the Throne, "H.A.M."

"Talkin' bout Baby money, I got your Baby money. Kidnap your b*tch, keep that, how much you love your lady money?, I know you fake ni**a, press your brakes ni**a, I'll take you out, that's a date, ni**a."

Video: Ms Lauryn Hill talks about the significance of 'The Miseducation...' album

The legendary album which came out over 10 years ago is discussed in this rare interview appearance from the [former] Fugee, who supposedly claimed that she'd rather her children starve than white people buy her music. Hopefully we'll see some new material from her but don't hold your breath.

Video: Chipmunk spitting fire in 2007!

I'm not one to post up old content but considering the circumstances, this footage could be considered vintage. The guy's flow and confidence are stronger here than a lot are bringing in 2011!

Video: Locksmiths, Mr 13, Frizzle & Wordplay - Ignorant

Some fresh sounding UK hip hop (note the difference between this and road rap!) here from three names doing a lot in the underground seen. The track is the 1st single from My Thirteen's album the 'Red Tape' EP available for FREE download, and is produced by top UK beatmaker Nutty P.

Audio: M.I.K & Discarda - Lord of the Hypes [Prod. by Spooky] (CDQ)

A very appropriate name for this banger from two of the most rowdy MCs in the grime scene right now, as they go back to back over Spooky's filthy beat. This is the type of track that will destroy any grime set so be prepared! This is the CD quality version, and NOT the radio rip from Spooky's set on Deja Vu recently.

The MC, member of grime crew Nationality (alongside Jammin and others) drops this sick concept video over a nuts dubstep beat courtesy of True Tiger. Rating this track and it's cool how he's blended the radio station names into the hook. ARD!

Audio: Stephen Marley – Made In Africa f. Wale & The Cast of Fela

Heard this on David Rodigan's Kiss 100 show, and the initial comparison to the recent Damian Marley/Nas project of course came to mind. However in many ways this is better! Really rating what Stephen Marley's doing at the moment!

Video: Danny Graft - ARSENAL ANTHEM (Keep The Faith)

As far as I remember I've never posted a football themed tune on here over three and half years but then again there's not been anything good to post!!

As an Arsenal fan since the early 1990s this video dug out a few old memories which were logged in a dark dusty corner of my brain... The MC's got a Devlin approach to the rapping which is never bad and a tight flow structure. The hook's a bit 'meh' but he's got bars and flows to make up so gotta give this some airtime... Love it when he bigs up Pat Rice!

Video: J. Cole - Work Out

J Cole adds another hit to his list of great feel good tracks. Lyrical and proud but still modest and classy! These types of rappers are a dyeing breed in 2011 but J Cole's doing his thing without needing to follow any trends so all salutes to the man.

Review: Channel 4's 'Life of Rhyme'

For the next 29 days you're able to watch 'Life of Rhyme', a documentary as part of the UK TV Channel's Street Summer series, featuring some of the best UK MCs ever, ranging from Taskforce to Ghetts.
Akala as the host covers the diverse qualities that modern MCs obtain - and explores the contribution to spoken word and poetry speaking to underground legends from hip hop, grime and reggae.

With all the negative press 'rap music' has had thrown at it recently (the latest being historian David Starkey effectively digging his own career's grave in 10 mins) it was the perfect opportunity to show the non hip hop/grime public the deeper intricacies of what the music has to offer! Hopefully this will open a few ears and eyes to the realness out there.

Akala really grills Giggs about the message behind his music, and seems to hit a few raw nerves with the Peckham road rap star and asks some questions not many would include in their interview...

He covers all aspects of what an MC does, from flow patterns, content, styles of rappers and what rap music does when played loudly to large groups of people!

Video: The Game names his top 5 WACKEST RAPPERS

In what seems to be an unnecessary shout for attention and negativity (as if there wasn't enough already), the Game name checks the five people he thinks suck the most. Could this start a series of unnecessary sleepless nights for the LA rapper?

This is his top choice, click here to peep the other 4! I have to admit I do agree to a certain extent who he picks as #1.

Video: Scrufizzer – Fizzy Flow

The fizziest flow is back in full effect as he sprays over this heavy beat for his latest video which I'm rating also... Keep your eyes peeled and ears sharpened Scru's taking over - one tune at a (double) time... SHOO!! SHOO!!

I caught up with the man himself a little while back, where he also sprayed some exclusive bars for BlatantlyBlunt TV!

Video: Marger Addresses LOTM3, Record Deal and more

One of the sickest names in the grime scene right now sits down with Street Starz to discuss a few matters including Lord of the Mic 3, his new EP/single Shadows, and what record deal he has in the pipeline.

Video: Wretch 32 - SB TV F64 [S3.EP1]

Seeing as it's series 3, it would've been appropriate for Wretch to spit episode 2 but none the less he opens the new season of SB.TV's F64 by cementing his status of the best lyricist that UK by dropping some hot bars...

Video: Nicki Minaj Gives Drake a Lap Dance On Stage

This is probably the Perez Hilton type blog I've ever done but this is pretty kinda like a big deal... The tune she's performing Superbass is dope also!

13 August 2011

Audio: Mistah F.A.B. ft. T-Pain - City Lights

Something on a slightly more bouncy vibe here as T-Pain does what he's best at and drops a great auto-tuned hook about California as the West Coast MC stays on the same theme and gives us a single off his upcoming album "The Bus Ride".

Play: Mistah F.A.B. ft. T-Pain - City Lights (Prod. By The Cataracs)

Audio: Doller - Sex Wars feat. Shawty (Prod. by G Tank)

As the anticipation for "Cold Blooded Tank" (his collaborative mixtape with producer G Tank) builds, Doller (formerly known as Doller Da Dustman) has released the audio to his ode to love-making, entitled "Sex Wars" with additional vocals from female MC Shawty. Rating this!

Video: Screaming Soul - Ghost In A Shell (+ album preview)

Take a look at this for something a bit unpredictable and sick at the same time, this is the new single from a band called Screaming Soul - reggae/dub singer Ghetto Priest (of On-U Sound fame) combines with MC/producer Sandman to bring the title track from their new album...

Check a preview for Screaming Soul's debut album, released on Emerging Species 29th August:

With his trademark live Fluteboxing (beat boxing through the flute while playing it at the same time), Flutebox' explosive blend unites Hip Hop, Dubstep and Beatbox beats with Jazz, Funk and Eastern melodies.
This former pirate radio Jungle MC has become a massive YouTube hit with millions of views worldwide. The catalyst for this came from a collaborative performance with Beardyman at the London Google offices, which has now reached over 6 million views!

Appearing in this video are NATHAN 'FLUTEBOX' LEE, SKREIN (vocals), WANDAN (beatbox), DJ TIGERSTYLE (dex 'n fx), MAQUENZIE (keys), MIKE PAGULATOS (viola) and MATT CONSTANTINE (cello).

12 August 2011

Video: Ed Sheeran ft. Wretch 32 & Devlin - You Need Me, I Don't Need You

Wretch and Devs add some flavour to an already sick track by dropping verses over Ed's latest single, which was a track he did with SB.TV in February 2010 which helped his meteoric rise to fame.

I did an interview with Ed, shortly after his grime collaborations project dropped. Take a look!

Audio: Vibezkid - Serendipity

It'd be fair to assume Vibezkid was an experienced hip hop MC/producer who'd spent years listening to golden age ish. But when you find out he's 15 and makes his own beats, it makes this track THAT much better! Big up to this yout'!.

Video: Scizzahz - Scrape That

Really rating the approach this Brighton MC/producer has taken to this, which is taken from the album 'I Still Work Harder'. The beat's unpredictable and the bars ain't cliche'd if you listen properly!

Audio: DMX Feat. Busta Rhymes – Otis

This mammoth remake of Jay-Z and Kanye's hit is a big improvement on the original, and DMX could only make his first post-jail tune a massive one. Guess what, he did and who else to feature on the tune with him than the mighty Busta. This is definitely not for the people that like their hip hop mellow!

This is the certified classic UK banger Fight Club, which you need to know about if you claim to be a fan of UK hip hop/rap... in fact this is verging on grime!

Audio: Ace Hood feat. Beanie Sigel, Busta Rhymes, Pusha T & Styles P - Go N Get It (Remix)

Despite this track sounding ridiculously similar to his break through hit Hustle Hard, this is still dope as hell. The artists featured on this remix shows you what kind of league Ace Hood is playing in at the moment, and as expected Busta's verse is colossal. I've been checking for Ace Hood for a couple of years now and finally he's having his time to shine...
