Ed Sheeran hits #2 on the iTunes chart

With no videos from the EP, no label backing and only a few spins on radio, Ed Sheeran (with the help of the best of the grime scene) has a place next to Rihanna on the iTunes album charts at number two.

If you're unaware of who Ed Sheeran even is , check this short profile I knocked up for Urban Development last November..

Features on the EP include: Devlin, Wiley, P Money, JME, Mikill Pane, Ghetts, Random Impulse, Sway, Wretch 32 and Dot Rotten.

If the names are unfamiliar to you, in grime terms it's close on to four of the biggest Russian oligarchs gathering their savings together and chipping in for their kids' college graduation party.

According to the BBC, Ed's original idea for the release was rejected by record labels, who suggested he gave the music away for free to raise his profile. He is charging £5 for the CD on his website and it costs £6.32 from iTunes.
