Ever wondered wat would happen when you make a grime tune themed about crack ?

ASB -I Am Crack (official mini video)

Props to ASB for getting on to Forbez DVD one of the new but revealing hip hop culture video streaming sites. This tracks kinda live imo, some good overall track and video production but I can't help thinking the use of the (movie-grade) coke and crack is a bit over zealous or in ur face but respect either way, i rate this track...

Check ASB out on my weekly show on urbanfmtv.com from a few weeks ago...

The Doctor's Orders 4TH Birthday Celebrations - This July!

In association with King Apparel

To mark the 4th Birthday of London's premier Hip-Hop party and promotion The Doctor's Orders are hosting a series of events throughout July. Alongside their regular club nights there will be live shows, free parties and even a pub quiz. As ever these events will feature the finest talent the US and UK Hip-Hop scenes have to offer performing for London's dedicated followers of these great events.

After stints promoting other successful nights including Good Foot, Indelible & SoulBrew, which recently celebrated it's 7th birthday and continues to grow, Spin Doctor (Rod Gilmore) established The Doctor's Orders to fill the void of "Real Hip-Hop parties" in his beloved home town of London. By staying true to underground Hip-Hop in all it's guises from Boom Bap and Digi-Funk to Soul and Disco breaks, with a genuinely fun party atmosphere where people can dance the night away with friends new and old, the events have constantly grow in popularity and become the benchmark and inspiration for many other club nights.

Since the launch of The Doctor's Orders nights at Herbal in July 2005 Spin Doctor and his team have gone on to organize a variety of events including bringing the legendary KRS One to perform in London for the first time in 10 years, co-promoting the hugely successful BBE Records anniversary parties at Canvas, launching the On The Real nights at Plan B, as well as working alongside many of London's top venues to bring guests that read like the who's who of Hip-Hop and beyond to the capital's attention.

Louie Vega (Masters @ Work), Jazzy Jeff, DJ Premier, Maseo (De La Soul), Osunlade, DJ Spinna, Cash Money, Sadat X, Bobbito, Rich Medina, Waajeed, Royce Da 5'9", Marley Marl, Gilles Peterson, Norman Jay, Joe Claussell, Carl Craig, Dimitri From Paris, A-Trak, Joey Negro, DJ Evil Dee, DJ Vadim, Kon & Amir, Blak Twang, Skinnyman, Killa Kela & DJ Babu are just a few of the names to have blessed events hosted by The Doctor's Orders in the last 4 years and there are sure to be many more for years to come starting with these events throughout July.

UNRELEASED VIDEO: Kanye West - Two Words (feat. Mos Def & Freeway)

One of the best Kanye tracks ever off his 1st album.. great vocals/hook/production/sound...
This is Kanye's explanation as to why it wasn't released as a vid-
"This video never got played because I refused to remove the titles on it. They said people will think a TV show is going off and I said that's the whole point. Wow... even only 3 videos in to the game.... I refused to compromise my vision." - Kanye West

DIZZEE ON WOSSY

DIZZEE DOING HIS THING ON JONATHAN ROSS' FRIDAY NIGHT SHOW THE OTHER DAY. I THINK DYL DOES A GREAT JOB OF REPRESENTING THE SCENE/CULTURE/HIMSELF HERE, AND IS DEFINITLY DOING HIS THING IN A MAJOR WAY. Some new hood video's fresh out of the LDN

This one's an overdue collabo from Skepta and Giggs, argueably the UK's 2 biggest rappers (backed up by Giggs' reminding to us they're both BET nominees). Seems like Giggs runs the show on this but Skeppy came with a better verse from 1st couple of listens. Grime's no 1 on-road camera man Smokey Barz out does himself again behind the lens.. what next for the guy? (he already films the logan sama show on Kiss.)

The next one is from North London best grime-hop crossover rapper; Black the ripper, a new video of his mixtape unreleased shit part 2 which came out a few months ago, check his latest free download! Also look out for his long awaited 1st LP; Black Magic coming out later this year.

2 May 2009

New video: Professor Green - Hard night out

This one's definitly different but I'm feeling it. Seems like Pro G is one of the first cats to spit grime hop over a 'rock' instrumental (and do it well) in the UK!

Video interview: Logan Sama

This one provided to you by the grime scene's answer to worldstarhiphop; Grime Daily. Make sure you check that site if you're into grime and uk rap in general, cos this site has it all!
a revealing 3 part interview with the one of the grime scene's most important pioneers and DJs; Logan Sama who's on Kiss 100 every monday night 11-1 am (just after mine which finishes at 10!).
